Pick Strawberries at Sweet Berry Farm
Located in neighboring Marble Falls, family-owned Sweet Berry Farm is a wonderful way to spend a sunny spring day. Although they’re closed for the winter, the farm is gearing up for a bountiful strawberry season. Starting in mid-March, you can head out to the farm to pick your own strawberries! Whether you’re eating them as a snack, whipping up some strawberry shortcake, or making some homemade jam, the possibilities are endless.
After you’re done picking your bounty, be sure to take advantage of the other family fun activities on the farm. Ride the Sweet Berry Express Barrel train, let the kids wear themselves out on the Berry Bounce, or paint a pot to bring home. Before you leave, don’t forget to cool off with one of their delicious homemade strawberry popsicles.
Take in the Beauty of the Bluebonnets
Known as the “Bluebonnet Belt of Texas,” the Texas Hill Country is no doubt one of the best places to view our beloved state flower up close. Whether you want to wander through a field of wildflowers or embark on a self-guided driving tour, there are plenty of ways to observe their beauty without pulling to the side of a busy state highway.
From the end of March to late April, enjoy the sight of bluebonnets scattered throughout the Hill Country. One of our favorite ways to enjoy them is a scenic drive along the Highland Lakes Bluebonnet Trail which makes its way around Horseshoe Bay, Granite Shoals, Kingsland, Inks Lake, and Buchanan Dam. This self-guided driving tour is a splendid way to spend the day with your family.
Spend an Afternoon on a Pontoon Boat
Situated on Lake Buchanan, there’s no better way to make the most of a beautiful spring day than an afternoon out on the lake! Our pontoon boat rentals make it easy to bring the whole family together for some fun on the water. Pack a lunch or some light snacks and cruise around the lake as you soak up the surrounding natural beauty. When you’re ready for a little fun, hitch a tube to the back of the pontoon and take your kids for a ride. Or, anchor your boat and cool off with a casual dip in the lake. We make Spring Break in Texas for families easier and more fun than ever!
If you’re seeking a different kind of fun, take advantage of our jet ski, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard rentals. Whatever type of water activity you’re looking for, our exclusive boat rentals are perfect for all tastes.
Visit a Nearby Winery
One of our favorite springtime activities is a trip to one of the many nearby wineries. Located in the heart of Texas Wine Country, if you fancy yourself a glass of wine, you’re in the right place. Not too far from Cedar Lodge lies the beautiful Perissos Vineyard and Winery. Choose a seat in their expansive indoor tasting room or out on the patio for a tasting of six of their current releases.
A 10-minute drive up the road brings you to the impeccable Torr Na Lochs Vineyard. Perched atop a hill overlooking Inks Lake and Lake Buchanan, the 360-degree scenic views from their tasting room and patio are one-of-a-kind. On Saturday afternoons, enjoy a tasting and small bites outside at one of the many picnic tables while listening to live music from talented local musicians.
Take a Guided Cave Tour
If you’re seeking an outdoor adventure, there’s no shortage of amazing hiking trails to explore. A favorite of visitors is the historic Longhorn Cavern State Park. Admire these intricate caverns up close on a guided walking tour through 1.1 miles of underground passages. Over the course of the 90-minute tour, you’ll learn the history of how these caverns formed and the geology that makes them so unique.
After you’ve explored the caverns, take some time to wander about the State Park grounds. Make a point to climb to the top of the observatory tower for a magical 360-degree view of the surrounding Hill Country, and see if you can spot Falkenstein Castle in the distance. Before you leave, go for a peaceful stroll along the Backbone Ridge trails and treat yourself to lunch underneath a picturesque grove of oak trees.
Go on a Zip-lining Adventure
For an adrenaline-filled day, head south to Cypress Valley Canopy Tours to spend time soaring through the trees. On their zipline canopy tour, you’ll have the chance to glide from platform to platform through a grove of old cypress trees. From high in the treetops, this adventure is sure to give you a new perspective of Hill Country.
Ziplining at Cypress Valley is a fantastic way to take in nature while learning about the local ecology. On this guided tour, you’ll traverse your way through five ziplines, two sky bridges, and a rappel. This activity is superb for families who are seeking a bit of adventure on their Spring Break, and the kids are sure to love it!
Play in Reunion Park
